Description:
Five years after its initial publication, Jihad Against Religious Hate Speech (RHS) returns in a revised edition. RHS remains a serious threat to Indonesia’s harmony. Although elections were held safely, advances in AI make it easier to create hate-based content—images, voices, and videos. AI can be both a threat and a tool to counter RHS, so it must be used wisely and responsibly.
Indonesia is rich in languages, cultures, and religions with deeply loyal followers. This loyalty is a strength, but if mismanaged it can spark conflict—especially when RHS is mistaken for a religious command. The Qur’an warns against spreading hatred through the story of Pharaoh, destroyed for hate speech against Prophet Moses. It also forbids hating others easily (QS. Al-Maidah/5:8) and spreading suspicion (QS. Al-Hujurat/49:12). Thus, jihad against RHS is necessary: it threatens the nation, the state, and the ummah, including within Islam. Diversity of schools of thought and political choices must not be exploited to damage ukhuwah.
Jihad against RHS is not a hard strike but an effort to build resilience—by grounding heavenly messages. This book calls for vigilance, wisdom, and responsibility in protecting the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) from Sabang to Merauke, surrendering to Allah and seeking strength to preserve Indonesia’s harmony.
